Research activity as been prevailing at Sheba Medical Center throughout the recent years as part of Sheba's intent to become a leader in the forefronts of scientific research. The Sheba Medical Center's endeavor to be at the forefront of scientific research has created ever increasing research activity during the last few years.
Among Sheba staff members are internationally renowned scientists who have made significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the life sciences as diverse as cell biology, biotechnology, genetics, imaging, as well as in every area of the medical technologies. Our Research and Development office functions to assist Sheba researchers in applying for and processing research funds from a wide range of foundations both in Israel and world-wide. In the past few years, our researchers have succeeded in obtaining an impressive number of grants from leading international bodies, such as the NIH, CDMRP (DOD) as well as BSF, GIF and ISF. These foundations support the basic aspects of research at Sheba.
Sheba's scientists have published numerous articles in the major international medical and scientific journals. Over 140 publications appear in Sheba's 2005 Publication book, which is available upon request. During Sheba Research Days, conducted once annually, over 300 assorted studies were presented thorough the years 2004-2007 at Sheba, attracting very impressive audiences. Participating in research at Sheba, are MD's, PhD's, Master of Science students, Doctorate students and laboratory technicians.
Our office handles the processing of all NDA's and MTA's as well as inter-institutional agreements. We also assist our researchers in registering their trials at the ClinicalTrials.gov website, as is currently required of all Sheba's investigator-initiated clinical research studies.
Research Funding
Sheba research is funded by internal sources, donations, local and international research foundations and by commercial agreements. In the past 3 years, there has been an exceptional increase in the competitive grants which support research at Sheba.
